Martin Luther King Jr. dedicated his life to fight for equality and justice for all Americans. He fought for social change in a peaceful way. On October 14, 1964, Martin Luther King Jr. won the Nobel Peace Prize for combating racial inequality through nonviolent resistance. He was brutally assassinated on April 4th 1968. Martin Luther King Jr. leaves us with his legacy, whilst America is gripped by political and civil unrest and deep societal divisions. Across the nation, Black Lives Matter protests erupted in response to the killing of George Floyd, prompting urgent calls for confronting and ending racism and for a renewed effort to correct racial injustices and inequalities.
