June Street, Salford 1973

This Café Royal Books zine presents a collaborative body of work which Martin Parr and Daniel Meadows created in 1973, photographing the residents of June Street in Salford, Greater Manchester.

Martin and Daniel chose to photograph June Street as it was one of the last streets to provide location exteriors for the nation’s number one soap opera of the time, Coronation Street. This early work was produced while both Martin and Parr and Daniel Meadows were studying photography at Manchester Polytechnic.

India 1984

In 1984 Martin Parr travelled to India, where he photographed around Darjeeling and Calcutta. Martin honed in on his usual subjects, making portraits, alongside documenting cricket matches, tea rooms and schools, among other things.

Highlights from this lesser known black and white Parr photography are presented in this Café Royal Books.

China 1985

In 1985 Martin Parr travelled and photographed around China.

This Café Royal Books zine presents this images from this lesser known early Parr photography.
