The Magnum Darkroom Collection presents an exclusive look into the darkroom, showing the making of iconic images from the 75-year-old archive. These facsimile prints, complete with mark-ups and notations from the printer, reveal the thought process behind how these images were interpreted, how the depth and layers were accentuated, and how the subject was brought to life. The collection, composed of ten 11×14” prints, celebrates the eye of the printer and the intimate art of developing in the darkroom.

Description

“Kings from Queens, from Queens come kings” is the opening bar on “Raising Hell,” the titular track on Run-DMC’s third studio album. Released in 1986, the album is considered one of the most influential records in hip hop history and it represents the moment hip hop solidified itself as a dominant cultural force in the US and around the world. During the 45-city “Raising Hell” tour, DJ Hurricane, bodyguard for Run-DMC and DJ for the Beastie Boys, played chess on the bus with Jam Master Jay. The picture appears in Eli Reed’s Black in America (2000), a book that explores and expands the notion of black experience in America.

All Magnum Darkroom Prints are shipped flat and separately from other items in your order. If you order a framed Darkroom Print it will ship carefully packed in bubble wrap and a sturdy box separately from other items in your order. Please allow an extra 3 weeks for framing your orders.

Kindly be aware that shipments within Europe will be dispatched from France, while all other destinations will be fulfilled from the United States.
